Asin Thottumkal is born on October 26, 1985 to a businessman father Joshep and doctor mother Seline in Malayalam speaking family in Kochi.
She did her schooling from Naval Public School in Cochin and joined St. Theresa's Higher Secondary School for her higher secondary education. As she successfully completed her schooling, she then joined St. Theresa's College and chooses English Literature as the main subject. As she graduated, she started assisting her father in his business involving software sell, furniture and antiques export. While doing so, she started her modeling career and bagged the assignments for Colgate toothpaste and Fairever cream.
Asin Thottumkal is a beauty with brain and is a linguistic expert. She has strong hold on languages like Malyalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Sanskrit, English, and French. She may be the only Indian actress with a Blogspot in French. She is a voracious reader and has huge collection of books. Asin remains actively involved in various functions throughout Southern India and credits her good upbringing to her parents, who she considers her role models.

Guess who is Mallika Sherawat's best friend these days? No, it is not Jackie Chan, who is much more than a friend! Her new friend is Asin , with whom she has struck a great rapport and is constantly in touch.
Mallika Sherwat the hot, sizzling Bollywood actress and our own Asin who has an image of a homely girl are like chalk and cheese. They met for the first time in Chennai at the Dasavatharam, audio launch in which Jackie Chan was present. Asin all prim and proper had never met Mallika during the shoot of the film as they had no combination scenes together.
So when they first met on stage at the Nehru stadium, the organizers had no time to even introduce them. After a few moments of embarrassing silence, Asin flashed her winsome disarming smile and Mallika too responded. Soon they started chatting up and found that their comfort level was good.
Mallika said that her brother was a big fan of Asin, and even seen some of her movies. She was also impressed that Aamir Khan chose her over other more glamorous Bollywood heroines. But our sources say, what impressed Mallika the most was that Asin did not try to cut a conversation with the hero of the evening Jackie Chan. Any other actress would have gone to Chan and introduced herself.
Actually when the function was over. director K.S Ravikumar went out of his way to introduce Chan to Asin Mallika immediately took the initiative and made an opportunity for the photographers to click all the three together.
What is interesting is that, after she reached Mumbai,Mallika keeps in touch with Asin over the phone and exchanges pleasantries. Asin on her part thinks Mallika is a very nice person, a good friend and has no hang-up's as made out by her rivals. Say Cheese!
Asin's Success Recipe
Since Asin moved base from Kollywood to Bollywood, the actress has been doing very well. While the Hindi remake of 'Ghajini' is still underway, she already has a couple of other interesting offers in Hindi. Director Ken Ghosh wants to sign her opposite Shahid Kapur. Then there is Sohail Khan's film opposite Salman Khan and a third film directed by Honey Irani, which stars Amitabh Bachchan.
So how does Asin select her films? Well, she has seven rules - a good script, a role that gives her scope to perform, a good director, co-artistes who are supportive, a big and famous banner, well-known music director and of course a great cameraman (to make her look her best)! So language is not a criteron at all for this talented actress!
